Role Purpose

  • Company’s first priority is safety in everything we do. This role must work across the wider team to ensure that all maintenance activities are safe and build a culture of commitment to safety.
  • Day to day supervision of Hangar team, including ensuring that work is well planned with realistic parameters for delivery of outputs and timely communications.
  • Effective collaboration with teams across the business (including customer care, commercial, and administrative support teams) to optimise outcomes for customers.
  • Ensure high quality and timely outputs and proactive management of internal and external customers’ expectations.

    Operational Management

    • Responsible for the effective oversight and management of the hangar team
    • Work closely with the Customer Care team to ensure a clear understanding of the customer’s needs and expectations before work commences
    • Maintain appropriate paperwork required to certify all work carried out and to ensure general business processes are completed
    • Liaise with relevant department managers and supervisors (including Parts and logistics) to plan and agree work requirements and schedules for delivery of outputs
    • Ensure outputs are delivered within agreed deadlines, where issues arse that will impact on delivery ensure timely communications with relevant parties
    • Foster a high level of interpersonal and interdivisional communication and co-operation
    • Provide accurate reporting in line with Divisional and other business requirements
    • Ensure the physical workshop space is kept in good order, clean and in a state of good repair
    • Ensure that procedures, quality and safety standards are complied with always
    • In liaison with the Maintenance & Projects Business Partner, ensure that the man hour plan is implemented, updated and monitored to ensure that there is sufficient personnel and facility to undertake planned work so that workloads are not excessive, and airworthiness and safety requirements are not compromised
    • In liaison with the Helicopter Engineering Manager ensure that there are sufficient resources, tools and materials to undertake the intended work
    • Liaise with relevant departments to ensure parts are ordered in a timely manner and available as required
    • Ensure that the quality of workmanship of the final product meets the standards required by Company, the customer and regulator

    Process and system improvement

    • Identify and recommend opportunities for process and systems improvement. Work with the team and other relevant parties to develop and execute improvements

    Stakeholder Management/Customer Service

    • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders
    • Deliver exceptional customer service outcomes, both internally and externally
    • Ensure a customer centric approach to all operations


    • Remain aware of relevant technical, industry and legislative information/knowledge.
    • Identify and/or attend relevant training courses (including safety related training) and seminars.

    Team Supervision

    • Ensure the competence of the team is relevant and current to their assigned duties
    • Effectively manage performance of team to ensure customer, regulator and company requirements are met
    • Support the team through coaching and mentoring
    • Liaise with HR and other managers on issues relating to training and development, recruiting, induction and rewards and recognitions, performance management to ensure personnel services are effectively managed

    Person Specification


    • At least 5 years proven experience in a turbines/rotary position
    • Must be an experienced Licensed Aviation Mechanical Engineer (at least 5 years post qualification) with a relevant engine rating
    • Strong analytical and reasoning skills
    • Able to work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to ensure the best outcomes for the business and for customers
    • High level of attention to detail.
    • Excellent time management and task organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities
    • Sets high standards for own performance, demonstrates enthusiasm for the job and takes responsibility for successfully completing tasks
    • Considerable previous experience planning work, and successfully executing plans, within a heavily regulated industry
    • Proactive and focussed on continual improvement
    • High level of supervisory skills, able to motivate a team to succeed
